Farms and hospices in East Anglia are set to benefit following a record-breaking Christmas tree collection.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) organises the annual pick-up across East Anglia, with collections in Norwich and around Norfolk supported by volunteers and vehicles from Victory Homes, part of Bromford Flagship.

Organisers hailed the two-day effort in mid-January as the project’s most successful, with over 1,400 trees picked up and almost £26,000 in donations in Norfolk alone.

Joe McNeill, neighbourhood operations manager for Victory Homes, said: “We love being part of this every year. It means the trees get recycled, and being out in the community, seeing people and getting stuck in is a wonderful thing to be involved in.

“EACH do some fantastic work and it’s a pleasure to support them and help them raise money.”

The trees will now be recycled, chipped, and given to local farms.

Natasha Butler, Senior Community Fundraiser for EACH, said: “This year is officially our best year ever, and it’s all thanks to these volunteers.

“We’re so grateful for the support in collecting this small forest of trees, and it’s hard to overstate quite how much of a difference that and the donations will make to those we support.”

The charity also ran collections in Suffolk and Cambridge alongside organisation Just Helping. Across the three, 3,800 trees were collected with just over £48,000 raised in support of the children and families EACH supports across East Anglia.
